Malware Attacks Alaska Court System
The Alaska Court System (ACS) has suffered a malware attack, which has forced the ACS to take some system offline amid the malware cleanup efforts, according to a note on the court system’s website.
The ACS is working with a cybersecurity company to respond to the incident and prevent any further breaches, the note said. The court system did not disclose the cybersecurity firm’s name. It’s unknown if MSSPs (managed security services providers) are involved in the investigation and cleanup.
The court system does not believe any confidential court documents or employee information has been compromised. Also, no customer credit card information was compromised. Many communication systems — including phone, fax, internal email between ACS employees, and more — continue to work. .
Still, it is unclear when the courts will reconnect to the Internet, the court system conceded.
