AT&T Cybersecurity Unveils Managed Detection and Response Service

AT&T Cybersecurity has unveiled AT&T Managed Threat Detection and Response, a an service that helps organizations identify and address to cyber threats before they impact their day-to-day operations.

The new service is not to be confused with AT&T Cybersecurity's AlienVault USM for MSSPs offering, and other options designed for VARs and MSPs. Marcus Bragg, AT&T Cybersecurity’s VP of sales, explained the positioning in an email statement to MSSP Alert:

"AT&T Managed Threat Detection and Response is not available to our MSSPs as they are currently selling a Threat Detection Service where their teams manage the security operations center instead of AT&T. However, current AT&T Cybersecurity partners are using the AlienVault platforms in their offering. Upon our initial launch, we have not included VARs and resellers and are working with them to understand their needs of selling a service vs. the AlienVault USM product line."

AT&T Cybersecurity expects to share more partner perspectives on the new service later this year, he added.

AT&T Managed Threat Detection and Response: Details

AT&T Managed Threat Detection and Response is backed by a security operations center (SOC) team that hunts for and disrupts cyber threats, AT&T Cybersecurity said. This team also conducts daily security monitoring and incident investigations.

In addition, AT&T Managed Threat Detection and Response offers the following security capabilities:

  • Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR): Features more than 300 pre-built SOAR integrations.
  • Threat Intelligence: Delivers data-driven security insights and recommendations.
  • Unified Security Management: Provides centralized security visibility across clouds, networks and endpoints.

AT&T Managed Threat Detection and Response is now available, with pricing starting at $7,595 per month.

A Closer Look at AT&T Cybersecurity

AT&T Cybersecurity was formed earlier this year. It consists of AT&T Cybersecurity Consulting and AT&T Managed Security Services and provides penetration testing, cybersecurity IQ training and other cybersecurity services. The group also leverages technology from the AlienVault acquisition of 2018.

Demand for MDR services are certainly growing. Global MDR market revenues are expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate of 31.6 percent between 2017 and 2022, according to industry analyst MarketsandMarkets. These revenues also could total nearly $1.7 billion by 2022.
