Bitdefender, a Romanian cybersecurity and antivirus software provider, has launched the GravityZone Managed Endpoint Detection and Response (MEDR) service. GravityZone MEDR offers threat monitoring, automated alerting and alert analysis for advanced protection, threat visibility and context to facilitate security investigations, according to a prepared statement.

Organizations can use GravityZone MEDR to identify malware campaigns, notify their security and IT teams about potential risks and recommend prevention and remediation actions, Bitdefender stated. They also can perform sample analyses to determine if suspicious events are real threats.

How Does GravityZone MEDR Work?

GravityZone MEDR is built on the GravityZone Ultra single-agent, single-console endpoint protection solution, Bitdefender noted. The solution stores 90 days of activity and enables security analysts to perform forensic investigations and review historical data.

In addition, GravityZone MEDR provides security and IT teams with access to Bitdefender security analysts, Bitdefender indicated. It also allows internal security teams to collaborate with Bitdefender for continuous threat monitoring.

What Does GravityZone MEDR Mean for Bitdefender?

The GravityZone MEDR release is one of several recent moves that could help Bitdefender extend its reach in the global EDR market.

Bitdefender last year launched GravityZone XDR, a next-generation endpoint security platform to help safeguard organizations against known and unknown cyber threats. GravityZone XDR offers threat prevention, incident detection and smart response capabilities.

Meanwhile, the global EDR market is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 25 percent between 2016 and 2021, industry analyst MarketsandMarkets pointed out. This market also could be worth nearly $2.3 billion by 2021.

What Is GravityZone?

GravityZone is a security services bundle that offers centralized management of servers and workstations. It provides a variety of security capabilities, including:

  • Application behavior monitoring.
  • Layered endpoint protection.
  • Security intelligence cloud.

GravityZone also leverages machine learning and various security techniques to protect organizations against all types of malware, Bitdefender stated. That way, GravityZone helps organizations secure their sensitive data against evolving cyber threats.
