MSSP Optiv, Cyberbit Partner to Deliver SOC Team Training

Optiv, a Top 250 MSSP, and cyber skills development platform provider Cyberbit have announced a partnership to deliver simulation-based security operations center (SOC) team training. The partnership enables Optiv's North American customers to use live, simulated cyberattacks to train and assess SOC teams, according to a prepared statement.

Together, Optiv and Cyberbit enable SOC teams to use a virtual SOC within a cyber range to simulate real world networks, security tools and cyberattacks across the kill chain, the companies said. In doing so, the companies are helping SOC teams prepare for cyberattacks, regardless of their physical location or travel restrictions.

Cyberbit promotes a building block-based approach to cybersecurity training, the company said. It offers simulation-based labs and exercises aligned with the NICE Cybersecurity Framework that enable SOC teams to align their assessment programs with industry best practices.

SOC teams can use Cyberbit's training to find ways to improve their performance, accelerate onboarding and hiring and address the cybersecurity skills gap, the company stated. They also can access the training remotely or in an office.

Optiv Appoints New CEO

Along with partnering with Cyberbit, Optiv earlier this year hired Deloitte veteran Kevin Lynch as its CEO. Burns succeeded Optiv co-founder Dan Burns, who has transitioned into an executive advisor role.

Optiv is a "security solutions integrator" that delivers end-to-end cybersecurity capabilities, the company indicated. It provides risk management and transformation, threat management, security operations, identity and data management and other cybersecurity services to global organizations.
