MSSP TorchLight Blends MDR Security and Ransomware Defense Capabilities

TorchLight, an MSSP spin-off from IT consulting firm Intrinium and a Cisco Systems partner, has launched MDR-Complete, which consists of managed detection and response (MDR) services equipped with ransomware defense capabilities.

MDR-Complete is a SaaS offering that blends threat intelligence and research, endpoint detection and response (EDR), perimeter telemetry and incident management and response, TorchLight indicated. It helps organizations protect their data and assets from threats that frequently bypass common security controls.

What Does MDR-Complete Offer?

MDR encompasses the following services:

  • Cisco Secure DNS (formerly Umbrella): Secures internet access and allows organizations to manage cloud app usage across their networks, branch offices and users.
  • Cisco Secure Email: Detects, blocks and remediates email threats.
  • Cisco Secure Endpoint: Offers cloud-based endpoint protection and EDR.
  • Secure Cloud Analytics (formerly Stealthwatch Cloud): Collects and analyzes network data to detect and address threats.

In addition, MDR-Complete provides a ransomware gap assessment, TorchLight noted. An organization can use this assessment to analyze its vulnerability to ransomware attacks based on the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (NISTIR 8374).

MDR-Complete is available as a turnkey solution using Cisco technology or can be used in conjunction with an organization's current security solutions. It is priced on a per-user basis based on the number of seats that an organization requests.

TorchLight Releases MDR Security Services

The MDR-Complete launch comes after TorchLight in November 2021 introduced MDR security services.

Organizations can use TorchLight's MDR services for 24/7 monitoring and response of security alerts across their security information and event management (SIEM) systems, the MSSP said. They can leverage the MDR services with TorchLight's Cisco-based Security Orchestration Automation and Response (SOAR) implementation or their existing security solutions in conjunction with the company’s security monitoring.

TorchLight designs and manages cybersecurity solutions backed by a security operations center (SOC). It also partners with solution providers, system integrators and resellers.
