Iran Cyberattacks Target Oil Company: Report
Chatter about the cyberattacks surfaced in a Saudi Arabia cybersecurity alert. Saudi officials sent the alert to local companies active on the energy market, in an attempt to warn of impending attacks, and urging companies to secure their networks, ZDnet says. The attacks involved Dustman, a form of data-wiping malware. But the fallout from the attacks appears to be minimal.
The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on January 4, 2020, told IT professionals to brace for potential cyberattacks from Iran. Shortly thereafter, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) offered guidance to help organizations mitigate potential attacks.
