Organizations now can use the Hornetsecurity 365 Permission Manager solution to "manage permissions, enforce compliance policies and monitor violations within Microsoft 365," according to the company.

Commenting on the new release, Hornetsecurity Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) Olaf Petry said:

"It is critical for a CISO to effectively oversee the company's strategy and programs to ensure adequate protection of information assets and technologies, and yet this process can be very complicated... Hornetsecurity's new 365 Permission Manager will set CISOs' minds at rest by enabling security and compliance managers and administrators to efficiently and easily control Microsoft 365 permissions and help prevent critical data from getting into the wrong hands."

How Microsoft 365 Admins Can Use Hornetsecurity's 365 Permission Manager

Hornetsecurity's 365 Permission Manager lets Microsoft 365 administrators view permissions and websites, files and folders shared with an organization's employees, the company said. This helps Microsoft 365 admins comply with internal and external regulations and prevent unauthorized users from accessing sensitive data.

In addition, Microsoft 365 admins can use 365 Permission Manager to set and enforce compliance policies for sharing sites, files and folders, the company stated. They also can assign out-of-the-box best-practice policies or custom policies at the site, folder and file level.

Hornetsecurity CEO Daniel Hofmann commented on what 365 Permission Manager means for businesses and CISOs:

"It is vital that businesses and CISOs have the ability to enforce compliance policies and reasonably control access to documents and data – and we are proud to offer this with our new solution."

Hornetsecurity Expands Offerings

The 365 Permission Manager release comes after Hornetsecurity in March 2023 added Immutable Cloud Storage to its VM Backup solution. Immutable Storage lets users access their data during ransomware attacks and ensures that backup data is tamper-proof and cannot be modified or deleted, the company said.

Previously, Hornetsecurity in February 2023 announced QR Code Analyzer and Secure Links tools that organizations can use to combat fake QR codes that lead to phishing attacks and data breaches.

Organizations can use QR Code Analyzer to scan QR codes and find out if they are linked to malicious websites, Hornetsecurity stated.

Meanwhile, SecureLinks runs email links through a secure analyzer before enabling a recipient to open them, Hornetsecurity noted.

Hornetsecurity provides cloud-based security, compliance, backup and security awareness solutions. The company offers a partner program that allows MSSPs, MSPs and other technology providers to integrate Hornetsecurity's products into their portfolios.
