11. Talent: MobileIron Founding CEO Bob Tinker has joined the board of ShoCard, a blockchain-based identity management system (IMS).
10. M&A: Synopsys has acquired Black Duck, which offers automated solutions for securing and managing open source software. Synopsys will pay approximately $565 million, or $548 million net of cash acquired. In addition, Synopsys will assume certain unvested equity of Black Duck employees. The deal is expected to close in December 2017.
9. More Equifax Fallout: Politicians from New York and Vermont are taking a closer look at the Equifax breach, and the result could be new legislation to further protect customer identities.
8. Whoops: The Malaysian Dental Association (MDA) says it has known about a massive security breach on its online information system containing private data of its members since February. The breach wasn't publicly announced until recent days.
7. Student Hacker: A former University of Iowa wrestler allegedly used keylogger technology to hack university systems and change student grades at least 90 times, the FBI claims.
6. Russian Hackers?: The Justice Department has identified more than six members of the Russian government involved in hacking the Democratic National Committee’s computers and swiping sensitive information that became public during the 2016 presidential election, according to The Wall Street Journal. Prosecutors and agents have assembled evidence to charge the Russian officials and could bring a case next year, according to the report.
5. Government Access: Following a terrorist attack in New York that killed eight people, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions is calling on tech companies to give law enforcement access to encrypted devices and for more stringent immigration controls, while also urging Congress to continue its authorization of foreign surveillance, Law360 reports.
4. Financials: CyberArk's Q3 revenue was $64.8 million, up sharply from $55.0 million in Q3 2016. The results largely beat Wall Street's expectations. CyberArk's cybersecurity solutions focus on attacks that use insider privileges to target the heart of the enterprise.
3. WAN Security: Riverbed SteelConnect for SD-WANs and Zscaler for cloud security are now integrated. The integration enhances network security from remote and branch offices to the cloud, the companies assert.
2. MSSP Integration: Seclore is integrating its security rights management solution into RFA’s managed security services for hedge funds, private equity funds, private wealth advisors, investment management firms and law firms.
1. DDoS Attack Dashboard: AWS Shield Advanced, a managed Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection service, now provides the global threat environment dashboard that shows DDoS trends and metrics across Amazon CloudFront, Elastic Load Balancing, and Amazon Route 53.
