6. U.S. Cities and Cyber Insurance: A majority of the 25 most-populous U.S. cities now have cyber insurance or are looking into buying it, according to a Wall Street Journal survey. Cities including Boston, Nashville, Tenn., Washington, D.C., and San Jose, Calif., are actively researching cyber insurance. Dallas, San Diego, Denver and Detroit are among those that already have cyberpolicies; none have filed claims, the Journal reports.
5. Biometrics - Privacy Lawsuit: A pair of insurers claim they have no duty to defend or indemnify health care software provider Omnicell Inc. in a proposed class action accusing the company of violating Illinois’ biometric privacy law. According to the potential lawsuit, the software company's application improperly retains fingerprint data for a hospital’s employees, Law360 reports.
4. U.S. Cyber War Policy: Senators from both sides of the house have announced the Cyber Deterrence and Response Act of 2018. The bill would force the President to act against overseas hackers found targeting the US, or explain why he hadn’t, according to Naked Security.
3. Cyber Intelligence: Jazz Networks' cybersecurity intelligence platform is available for purchase beginning today. The initial features include User Behavior Analytics (UBA), machine learning-assisted alerts, instant actions, and a dedicated analyst service to monitor and report on findings, the company says.
2. IoT Security & Network Access Control (NAC): Fortinet has unveiled FortiNAC, a network access control product line that delivers network segmentation and automated responses for IoT security.
