Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) News: 20 July 2018

5. Endpoint Security Partnership: Digital Defense and ForeScout Technologies are partnering to enable real-time assessment, host analysis and policy-based mitigation of endpoint security risks, the companies say.

4. Singapore Cyber Attack: A major cyberattack on Singapore’s government health database stole the personal information of about 1.5 million people, including Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, the government said on Friday, Reuters reports.

3. Britain vs. Huawei: Technical and supply-chain issues with equipment made by Chinese firm Huawei have exposed Britain’s telecom networks to new security risks, a government report says,according to Reuters. This is the latest in a growing list of question marks facing Huawei, which faces security-related pushback from the United States, Australia and several other governments worldwide.

2. MSSPs and U.S. Election Security: In the FY 2019 budget, New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has secured $5 million to expand and further support statewide election cybersecurity infrastructure, LansingStar reports. The State will solicit contracts in the next few days for three independent services for County Boards of Elections, including: 1) cyber security risk assessments; 2) enhanced intrusion detection devices; and 3) managed security services.
