UAE Spying On iPhone Users: Hackers working for the United Arab Emirates infiltrated the iPhones of activists, diplomats and rival foreign leaders with the help of a sophisticated spying tool called Karma, Reuters notes. 18. More Huawei Concerns: China’s Huawei has been excluded from a Czech tender to build a tax portal after the country’s cyber watchdog warned of possible security threats posed by the telecoms supplier, Reuters says. The U.S. and many western governments believe Huawei's networking and mobile technologies potentially support China's spying activities. Numerous 5G network deployments worldwide are either barring or reconsidering their potential use of Huawei equipment. The networking giant has denied any China-related spying activities. 17. U.S. Supply Chain Security: The U.S. Department of Defense is preparing to audit the Pentagon's supply chain for DFARS compliance... 16. Countering DDoS for Hire: Europol is cracking down on DDoS for hire websites and their users... 15. Growth - Security Analytics: RANK Software, an AI-based security analytics and threat intelligence platform, grew its revenues 111 percent in 2018. Actual dollars and cents were not disclosed. 14. Check Point Financial Results: Check Point Software Technologies Ltd.'s revenues were $526 million in Q4 2018, up 4 percent from Q4 2017. GAAP net income was essentially flat at $238 million. The cybersecurity company recently hired VMware and HP and Compaq veteran Frank Rauch to help drive partner engagements. 13. Talent - Cyber Simulations: Cyberbit Ltd., a provider of cyber training and simulation platforms, has added Check Point Software veteran Amnon Bar-Lev to its board of directors. 12. Partner Program: AttackIQ, which specializes in security validation, has launched the Accelerate Channel Program. The company has also adopted a 100 percent channel sales model for the AttackIQ platform -- though we don't know if that means all company products are pure channel... 11. Partnership - SOC Automation Software: Global management consulting firm Dark Rhino Security has embraced JASK's Autonomous Security Operations Center (ASOC) platform. Managed Edge Security: FirstLight, a provider of fiber-optic data, Internet, data center, cloud and voice services in the Northeastern United States, has launched Managed Edge Security Security services to customers. 9. Apple Security Challenges: For the average consumer, it's nearly impossible to effectively report and escalate a security bug to Apple, this Wall Street Journal report suggests. 8. AWS Security Tools: Anitian, a Top 100 MSSP, is now approved to operate its Sherlock Compliance Automation offering on AWS. 7. Rubrik's AWS Data Leak: Rubrik is the latest storage company to misconfigure an AWS database, triggering a massive data exposure... Rival Veeam made a similar mistake  and suffered a big data exposure in September 2018. 6. Microsoft Azure Firewall: Untangle's NG Firewall is now available for Microsoft Azure, allowing customers and partners to run the firewall in Microsoft's public cloud. Moreover, Untangle and Malwarebytes have partnered to give customers a single pane of glass for their mutual solutions. 5. Microsoft Office 365 Privacy Enhancements: Details are here. 4. AT&T Earnings and AlienVault: AT&T's Q4 2018 quarterly revenues were weaker than expected. The company faces familiar challenges amid declines in legacy wireline services and wireless equipment. We're checking to see if the company mentions the recent AlienVault cybersecurity acquisition during today's earnings call. 3. M&A - Email and Data Security: Mimecast, an email and data security company, has acquired Simply Migrate, a provider of archive data migration technology. The acquired tools will allow customers to migrate more rapidly to Mimecast's secure cloud, the company says. 2. Private Equity Funding - MSSP: Foresite, an Overland Park, Kansas-based MSSP, has received private equity funding from Elsewhere Partners to accelerate organizational growth, marketing development, sales, geographic expansion, and product development. 1.
