Qualys Unveils Zero-Touch Patch Management to Mitigate Software Vulnerabilities

Qualys, an information security and compliance solutions provider, has added zero-touch patching to its Patch Management solution. Zero-touch patching is expected to be generally available in October 2021 via Qualys' Patch Management app.

The update comes as MSSPs and MSPs seek to further automate vulnerability management and rapid response to software bugs. Not by coincidence, Qualys works with many of the world's largest MSSPs -- including Secureworks, IBM Security, telecom service providers, and IT consulting firms that have MSSP business units.

With end-customers and MSSPs in mind, Qualys zero-touch patching ensures that organizations can patch their endpoints and servers without manual intervention and regardless of their connection or location, the company asserts. It also eliminates the need for organizations to use virtual private networks (VPNs) for patching.

Moreover, the software leverages Qualys Vulnerability Management, Detection and Response (VMDR) to prioritize vulnerabilities based on ransomware and other real-time threat indicators to help organizations focus on the most pressing patches first.

The zero-touch patching announcement comes after Qualys in August 2021 purchased TotalCloud, a cloud workflow management and no-code automation platform provider. Qualys partners and customers can use TotalCloud's platform to automate various cloud management activities and security activities that involve multiple cloud services.
