Secureworks XDR Gains More Endpoint Security Capabilities

Secureworks, a Top 250 MSSP, has expanded its XDR (eXtended Detection and Response) platform with a SaaS-based add-on to further protect partner and customer endpoints. Also, new ManagedXDR premium capabilities ensure Secureworks is closely monitoring end-customer systems at all times, the MSSP stated.

The key Secureworks products and services to know include:

  • Taegis XDR and ManagedXDR -- which are existing services from SecureWorks.
  • Taegis NGAV, which is the new SaaS-based add-on for the XDR services. Taegis NGAV uses machine learning technology to "automatically disrupt endpoint threats, while enhancing investigations in Taegis XDR with prevention context," Secureworks asserts.

Also new to the mix is Taegis ManagedXDR Elite, a premium MDR service that "adds continuous, managed threat hunting tailored to the customer's environment on top of MDR capabilities of Taegis ManagedXDR," the company said. Customers gain a designated Secureworks expert who examines their endpoints, networks and cloud assets for cyber threats and activity, and explores ways to reduce mean-time-to- detect (MTTD) and respond (MTTR) to them.

Secureworks Bets Recurring Security Revenue on Taegis

The latest Taegis offerings reinforce Secureworks' push beyond traditional managed security services. Similar to a classic business shift from client-server to cloud, Secureworks has been pivoting hard toward its own SaaS-based security solutions.

The business transformation is off to a promising start. Secureworks projects Taegis annual recurring revenue (ARR) to reach $150 million by January 2022. Taegis ARR surpassed $100 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2022 and tripled year over year, Secureworks CEO Wendy Thomas said in September 2021.

To fuel continued Taegis growth, Secureworks launched an XDR technology alliance partner program in July 2021. The program provides cybersecurity developers with access to Taegis APIs and SDKs.

XDR Security Competition Intensifies

Along with Secureworks, several other cybersecurity companies are launching XDR security software and related services that MSSPs may manage.

In the past 24 hours or so, key XDR moves have surfaced from:

  • AT&T Cybersecurity
  • CrowdStrike
  • Cybereason
  • eSentire
  • Huntress
  • ReliaQuest
  • Stellar Cyber

The global XDR security market is expected to generate a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19.9 percent between 2021 and 2028, according to industry analyst Grand View Research.
