AlienVault, which specializes in unified security monitoring (USM) and threat intelligence, has announced Palo Alto Networks, ServiceNow and Carbon Black AlienApps for its USM Anywhere cloud security monitoring platform.
The new AlienApps are designed to help organizations identify and address cyber threats in Microsoft Office 365, Google G Suite, Cisco Umbrella and other cloud environments, AlienVault says.
The AlienApp for Palo Alto Networks' next-generation firewall products and Carbon Black's endpoint security platform provide organizations with automatic response orchestration capabilities within USM Anywhere, AlienVault said.
Meanwhile, the AlienApp for ServiceNow IT service management and security operations helps organizations coordinate incident response management efforts more effectively than ever before, AlienVault noted in a prepared statement.
What Is USM Anywhere?
USM Anywhere provides organizations with advanced threat detection and incident response in cloud, hybrid cloud and on-premises environments, AlienVault indicated.
It is delivered via software-as-a-service (SaaS), AlienVault stated, and features a scalable, two-tier architecture to help organizations manage and monitor every aspect of their cloud security.
USM Anywhere's security monitoring capabilities include:
- Asset discovery.
- Behavioral monitoring.
- Intrusion detection.
- Security information and event management (SIEM).
- Vulnerability assessment.
Also, USM Anywhere enables organizations to add new security technologies via AlienApps, modular, integrated software components that "extend the value proposition of the (USM Anywhere) platform beyond the five essential security capabilities," AlienVault pointed out.
AlienApps automate, extend and orchestrate USM Anywhere's threat detection and incident response functionality, AlienVault indicated, and provide organizations with the ability to deliver "a coordinated, automated response to threats."
That way, organizations can reduce the mean time to response to cyber threats and help IT security teams maximize the time and resources at their disposal, AlienVault said.

AlienVault currently has more than 3,000 employees worldwide and continues to add to its leadership team. In January, AlienVault appointed John McLeod as its first chief security information officer and Cathy Guthrie as its new chief people officer.
McLeod previously served as director of information security at oil and gas drilling equipment company National Oilwell Vacro, while Guthrie most recently worked as president of people at self-storage unit provider Sparefoot.
