Cylance Promotes Amazon AWS Cloud Security Solution

Cylance, which BlackBerry is acquiring, now offers its CylancePROTECT endpoint security solution to Amazon Web Services (AWS) Linux customers.

The company plans to showcase CylancePROTECT for AWS Linux at this week's AWS re:Invent cloud conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.

AWS Linux customers can use CylancePROTECT to secure application instances running on cloud services infrastructure from cyber threats, according to Cylance. They also can leverage CylanceOPTICS machine learning and AI to analyze cyber threats and speed up incident response.

Cylance Launches Smart Antivirus on Amazon

In addition to the CylancePROTECT for AWS Linux announcement, Cylance this month launched its Smart Antivirus predictive security solution on Amazon.

Smart Antivirus helps consumers identify and block cyber threats before they affect device performance or disrupt the user experience, Cylance indicated. It also offers immediate cyber protection upon installation.

Consumers can download Smart Antivirus via the Amazon Electronic Software Downloads (ESD) program. Furthermore, Smart Antivirus packages are available for a single device and five- and 10-device offerings over one- or two-year subscription terms.

What Do the Amazon Moves Mean for Cylance?

The CylancePROTECT for AWS Linux and Smart Antivirus on Amazon moves could help Cylance capitalize on the rising demand for AI-based cybersecurity among businesses and consumers.

Global AI cybersecurity market revenues are projected to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 29 percent between 2018 and 2022, according to industry analyst Technavio. Rising use of mobile and other connected devices and the rapid increase in cloud-based services are among the key factors that are expected to accelerate this market's growth.

What Is Cylance?

Cylance today offers threat detection and prevention solutions deployed on over 14.5 million endpoints. The company generates recurring revenue from over 3,500 enterprise customers and supports more than 20 percent of the Fortune 500.

BlackBerry earlier this month announced plans to acquire Cylance for $1.4 billion in a deal that is expected to close in February. After the acquisition is finalized, Cylance will operate as a separate business unit within BlackBerry.
