Microsoft 365 Security and Compliance Center: What MSSPs Need to Know

Microsoft has launched the Microsoft 365 security and compliance center, which enables security administrators to maintain compliance controls across Microsoft Office 365, Windows 10 and Enterprise Mobility + Security products.

Security administrators can use the Microsoft 365 security and compliance center to deploy and manage security and compliance solutions from a single location, according to the company. They also can access features like Azure Information Protection and Microsoft Cloud App Security to detect, classify, protect and report on their data.

Microsoft is currently rolling out the Microsoft 365 security and compliance center, and the company plans to add new capabilities to help security administrators deploy and manage security and compliance solutions and improve the user experience.

What Is Microsoft 365?

Microsoft 365 was introduced in July and provides “a complete, intelligent and secure solution for the modern workspace.” Read between the lines, and it bundles Office 365 with a range of additional services.

Three versions of Microsoft 365 are available:

  • Microsoft 365 for Enterprise: Microsoft 365 for Enterprise enables enterprise users to leverage tools that utilize artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. It also features built-in intelligent security and unifies IT management across users, devices, applications and services.
  • Microsoft 365 for Business: With Microsoft 365 for Business, companies can empower employees to get work done from any location, on any device. Microsoft 365 for Business provides always-on security, and it enables security administrators to use a single IT console to set up and manage employee devices and services.
  • Microsoft 365 for Education: Microsoft 365 for Education enables educators and students to use Microsoft products to drive creativity and teamwork. Meanwhile, Microsoft 365 for Education allows security administrators to manage data archiving, governance and discovery and protect user identities, apps, data and devices.

Microsoft 365 is generally available worldwide on a subscription basis.

BlackBerry, McAfee Unveil Microsoft Integrations

In addition to the Microsoft 365 security and compliance center launch, several companies recently have unveiled Microsoft integrations to help end users secure data stored on mobile devices and in the cloud.

BlackBerry last month integrated its Secure Platform with Microsoft Azure. Now, BlackBerry’s UEM, Workspaces, Dynamics and AtHoc solutions are available on Azure.

Furthermore, McAfee in March extended its Cloud Security Platform to Azure. The McAfee Cloud Security Platform for Azure enables users to audit their Azure security configuration settings, capture an audit trail of user and administrator activity and leverage data science and machine learning tools to detect insider threats and compromised accounts.
