Corsa Security, a turnkey virtualization platform provider, has introduced a firewall-as-a-service (FWaaS) offering for MSSPs, according to a prepared statement.
MSSPs can offer FWaaS as a substitute for physical firewalls, Corsa indicated. In doing so, they can simultaneously deliver an unlimited number of virtual firewalls and lower their network operations costs.
What Does Corsa's FWaaS Offer?
FWaaS provides automated virtualization of hardware firewalls and zero-touch network security operations, Corsa said. It is built on a secure access service edge (SASE) framework, offers push-button provisioning and integrates with firewall license and policy management systems.
In addition, FWaaS supports multi-tenancy, and MSSPs can offer specific services and capacity to customers and integrate the platform with security operations center (SOC) monitoring, billing and inventory tools, the company noted. MSSPs also can manage FWaaS via the Corsa Security Orchestrator virtual infrastructure manager.

Along with Corsa, other cybersecurity companies deliver FWaaS, including:
- Cato Networks: Provides FWaaS built on a private cloud of more than 50 PoPs that aggregates traffic from data centers, branches, mobile users and cloud infrastructure.
- Check Point Software Technologies: Delivers FWaaS designed to help organizations connect remote workers to corporate networks where applications reside on-premises and in the cloud.
- Fortinet: Offers the FortiWeb cloud-based web application FWaaS that protects public cloud hosted web applications from cyber threats.
FWaaS can provide greater deployment flexibility and scalability than physical firewalls, and they have become increasingly important for organizations that want to optimize security across applications and networks used by remote workers during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. As such, the demand for FWaaS and the number of FWaaS offerings available to MSSPs may increase in the years to come.
