Cybersecurity Training Acquisition: Immersive Labs Buys Snap Labs

Immersive Labs, a cybersecurity training platform provider, has purchased cyber labs company Snap Labs for an undisclosed sum. Together, the companies plan to offer cyber team exercises tailored to customer environments.

This is technology M&A deal number 723 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2021. See all technology M&A deals for 2021 and 2020 listed here.

Snap Labs: Areas of Cybersecurity Expertise

Immersive and Snap empower customers to run cyber labs and cyber crisis exercises in cloud-based replicas of their organizations' customer environments. The virtual environments allow cyber team members to collaborate while assessing cyber risks, and to determine the best ways to alleviate cyberattacks.

Among the potential use cases for Snap's technology:

  • Hiring Assessment: Enable an organization to leverage cybersecurity assessments to determine if a job candidate has cyber skills that align with the duties and responsibilities associated with a role.
  • Research and Development: Help cybersecurity tool developers build and test their products in labs that represent their target customer environments.
  • Training and Development: Allow cyber teams to create realistic training environments and use them to prepare for cyberattacks and develop their cybersecurity skills.

Snap offers cyber labs from featured templates and custom designs, the company indicated. It ensures that organizations can start using its cyber labs in minutes.

What Does the Acquisition Mean for Immersive?

Snap allows Immersive's customers to build "better cyber workforces with richly detailed realistic experiences pinpointed to the risk they face," Immersive CEO James Hadley stated. It enables these customers to leverage cyber exercises and benchmark data to continuously find ways to guard against cyberattacks.

The acquisition comes after Immersive in June 2021 closed a $75 million Series C funding round and raised its total venture financing to $123 million.

Organizations can use Immersive's platform to test, analyze and improve the cyber capabilities of their technical and non-technical teams, the company noted. In addition, Immersive provides a partner program that allows MSSPs to integrate its platform into their offerings.
