Dragos Acquires NexDefense, Launches Asset ID Tools

Dragos, an industrial cybersecurity platform provider, has acquired industrial control solutions (ICS) company NexDefense for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition comes after Dragos in November secured $37 million in Series B funding.

Dragos also has released the NexDefense Cyberlens and Integrity ICS asset identification and discovery tools free of charge.

Cyberlens is a passive ICS asset identification and visualization tool that enables users to conduct cybersecurity assessments in operational technology (OT) environments. It also allows users to process packet captures and analyze ICS environments.

Integrity provides packet captures of any size with asset counts up to 100,000. It supports ongoing industrial asset identification and offers ICS network and data flow visualization with basic deep packet inspection of ICS protocols.

Dragos Expands US Operations

In addition to its NexDefense acquisition, Dragos this month opened a new office in Houston, Texas.

The Houston office increases nationwide accessibility to Dragos’ ICS security and training, the company said. It also helps Dragos deliver industrial threat detection and response products and services across the United States.

What Is Dragos?

Dragos provides the Dragos Platform to help organizations identify assets and detect threats. The Dragos Platform visualizes an organization’s assets, tracks cyber threats and offers threat investigation playbooks.

Furthermore, Dragos provides ThreatView and Incident Response services. ThreatView empowers organizations to identify cyberattack vectors, address security gaps and improve their security posture. Comparatively, Incident Response helps organizations manage cyber risks.

The global ICS security market is  projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20 percent between 2018 and 2024, according to industry analyst Global Market Insights. This market also could be worth over $7 billion by 2024.
