BlackBerry, IBM Canada Announce Cybersecurity Reseller Partnership

IBM

BlackBerry and IBM Canada have reached an agreement to provide endpoint management, endpoint security and critical event management software to Canadian organizations, according to a prepared statement.

With the agreement, IBM will resell the BlackBerry Spark platform to Canadian organizations, the companies said. In doing so, IBM will provide Canadian organizations with access to BlackBerry security, productivity and safety software that they can use to operate in today's digital economy.

What Does the Agreement Mean for IBM and BlackBerry?

The agreement enables IBM to foster the digital transformation of organizations across Canada, said Xerxes Cooper, IBM Canada's GM for global technology services. It also ensures that IBM can deliver digital transformation solutions to Canadian organizations across all industries.

In addition, the agreement enables BlackBerry to provide solutions that promote security, productivity and safety across Canada, SVP Neelam Sandhu stated. It allows Canadian organizations to leverage BlackBerry Spark security, productivity and safety tools without compromise.

A Closer Look at BlackBerry Spark

BlackBerry Spark was launched in 2020. The platform blends unified endpoint security and unified endpoint management to help organizations build Zero Trust security environments, according to BlackBerry.

Organizations can leverage a wide range of BlackBerry Spark security capabilities and management tools, including:

  • Data loss prevention (DLP)
  • Endpoint detection and response (EDR)
  • Identity and access management (IAM)
  • Mobile threat detection

BlackBerry Spark is expected to play an important role in BlackBerry's business strategy in 2021. Meanwhile, BlackBerry looks poised to promote its endpoint security software to MSPs and MSSPs.
