Cylance, a company that offers artificial intelligence-based threat detection and prevention solutions, and network intelligence provider Cujo AI are working together to help telecommunications firms safeguard their customers against cyber threats.
The Cylance-Cujo AI partnership combines the companies' AI-based algorithms in endpoint and network security, according to a prepared statement. By doing so, it enables telecom providers to leverage AI-based cybersecurity tools to detect and prevent cyberattacks.

The Big Picture
Recent research indicates that 63 percent of telecom providers use domain name system (DNS) blacklisting to protect end users against cyberattacks, Cujo AI indicated. Furthermore, 45 percent stated they do not feel confident that they are ready to manage IoT security requirements for their customers.
Meanwhile, all DNS traffic is expected to be encrypted in the next few years, Cujo AI noted. At this point, telecom providers will no longer be able to analyze DNS traffic to identify and address malicious activities across customer networks.
Telecom providers now can use Cylance and Cujo AI technologies to detect specific malicious patterns within network traffic without decryption and deep packet inspection (DPI), the companies stated. This ensures that telecom providers can offer end-to-end protection for all connected devices in customers' homes.

Cylance, which BlackBerry is acquiring, provides AI-based cybersecurity solutions that are used to protect nearly 15 million endpoints worldwide. The company also offers a partner program that enables MSSPs, solution providers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to integrate its cybersecurity solutions into their portfolios.
Cujo AI provides network security and advanced device identification technologies to more than 16 million U.S. households. In addition, the company offers the Cujo AI Platform, which enables Internet services providers (ISPs) to incorporate network security, device intelligence and parental controls into their offerings.
