Dell Managed Security Pitch Blends Secureworks, CrowdStrike

Dell Technologies has announced Dell SafeGuard and Response, an endpoint security solutions portfolio that includes Secureworks managed security, incident response and threat behavioral analytics and CrowdStrike artificial intelligence-based endpoint protection capabilities.

Dell, as you may recall, spun off Secureworks as a public company in April 2016. The two companies have maintained a close relationship since that time. Similarly, Secureworks and CrowdStrike have had a formalized partnership since September 2018. Fast forward to present day, and a partnership extending across all three companies seems like a natural move.

Dell, Secureworks and CrowdStrike: The Solution

Dell SafeGuard and Response empowers organizations to protect their PCs and data against endpoint attacks, according to a prepared statement. It provides organizations with access to the following Secureworks and CrowdStrike solutions:

  • Secureworks Incident Management Retainer: Provides access to an incident response specialist team that responds to and mitigates security incidents.
  • Secureworks Managed Endpoint Protection: Offers managed services to monitor endpoints and access to the Secureworks Security Operations Center and Counter Threat Unit, which performs security event investigations.
  • CrowdStrike Falcon Prevent: Uses AI and machine learning to stop cyberattacks.
  • CrowdStrike Falcon Prevent and Insight: Offers visibility into endpoint threat activity and real-time threat remediation.

Dell SafeGuard and Response will be available globally in March via Dell and its authorized channel partners. In addition, the CrowdStrike Falcon platform can be purchased through Dell.

For its part, CrowdStrike also bolstered its own partner program in January while marching toward a potential IPO.

Endpoint Attacks on the Rise

Organizations are increasingly facing endpoint attacks, which is reflected in the following results the Ponemon Institute "2018 State of Endpoint Security Risk" survey of 660 IT security professionals:

  • 64 percent of IT security professionals said their company experienced one or more endpoint attacks that successfully compromised data assets and/or IT infrastructure over the previous 12 months.
  • 63 percent indicated the frequency of endpoint attacks increased over the past 12 months.
  • The average cost incurred by companies that suffered one or more successful endpoint attacks was $7.12 million, up from $5 million in 2017.

Furthermore, 31 percent of IT security professionals noted their companies use endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions to detect and prevent cyberattacks, the Ponemon survey revealed. Yet 54 percent of these respondents said they do not use all of their EDR solution's features and functionalities.

What Does the Future Hold for the Global Endpoint Security Market?

As organizations search for ways to stop endpoint attacks, Dell Safeguard and Response and other EDR solutions could drive the global endpoint security market's growth.

Global endpoint security market revenues are projected to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7 percent between 2017 and 2024, industry analyst Global Market Insights stated. These revenues also could total $7.5 billion by 2024.
