Telesystem is strengthening its cybersecurity market presence with the acquisition of Threat Protector, a Santa Fe, New Mexico-based cybersecurity firm specializing in security awareness training, device endpoint protection and managed security services.

This is technology M&A deal number 773 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2022. Financial terms of the deal, announced September 1, were not disclosed.

How Threat Protector Fits Telesystem’s Strategy

Telesystem, based in Northwood, Ohio, has 233 employees listed on LinkedIn. The cybersecurity provider is acquiring all of Threat Protector's U.S.-based customers, sales agent agreements and vendor contracts. In addition, the Threat Protector brand will be used to market Telesystem's cybersecurity product portfolio, the company said in a prepared statement.

Telesystem president John Martin described the gain from the Threat Protector acquisition:

"We were looking for a startup business in the cybersecurity sector that had a solid business plan and the momentum that could lead to breakthrough growth when combined with existing Telesystem resources. Beyond that, their channel-heavy sales model and existing partnerships fit perfectly into our revenue strategy."

Carl Katz, Threat Protector senior vice president of Worldwide Partner Sales, explained the synergy around the partnership:

"I am extremely excited to have Threat Protector join the Telesystem organization. It's rare in the technology industry to find a company that shares the same focus and core values as your own. Telesystem has been a respected name in our industry for over 25 years by providing amazing customer and partner experiences. This acquisition will serve to scale Threat Protector by adding the sales and support resources of the combined team.”

In addition to Threat Protector's suite of cybersecurity services, Telesystem notes plans to offer consultative services, including penetration testing, threat mitigation planning and risk analysis.

Telesystem will showcase Threat Protector's security solutions at the upcoming Channel Futures MSP Summit, September 13-16, 2022, in Orlando, Florida.
