Hitachi Systems has consolidated its North American group companies, Cumulus Systems and Hitachi Systems Security, to bolster its managed security services for global markets, according to a prepared statement.

This reorganization is technology M&A deal number 768 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2022.

Hitachi, founded in 1910, is based in Tokyo, Japan. The company has 2 million employees listed on LinkedIn. Hitachi's areas of expertise include information and telecommunications systems and logistics.

Cumulus Systems, founded in 2006, is based in Mountain View, California. The company has 125 employees listed on LinkedIn. Cumulus Systems' areas of expertise include performance management and analytics.

Hitachi Systems Security, founded in 1999, is based in Quebec, Canada. The company has 107 employees listed on LinkedIn. Hitachi Security Systems' areas of expertise include managed security services and cloud security.

What the Hitachi Reorganization Looks Like

Cumulus Systems will change its corporate name to Hitachi Systems Trusted Cyber Management (TCM) on October 1, 2022 and take Hitachi Systems Security as its subsidiary, the company said. In addition, Hitachi Systems TCM will acquire Hitachi Systems Security through an absorption-type merger.

Hitachi Systems TCM will take Hitachi Systems Security and Cumulus Systems as its subsidiaries and appoint Scott Wiebe, current CEO and CFO of Cumulus Systems, as its CEO, according to a prepared statement. It will also provide managed security services that leverage the experience and technology of both companies.

What the Reorganization Means for Hitachi

Hitachi's group companies responsible for its security business will participate in the management of Hitachi Systems TCM, the business said. In doing so, Hitcahi looks poised to expand its managed security service business.

Meanwhile, Hitachi Systems TCM will combine the technical skills of Cumulus Systems with the security technology and experience of Hitachi Systems Security. This will allow Hitachi Systems TCM to deliver security monitoring and threat intelligence services to global organizations, Hitachi pointed out.

Hitachi Systems TCM will create new security services and provide security professional services, Hitachi said. This could help Hitachi Systems TCM become a top global security vendor.
