MDR Services Provider Critical Informatics Secures $2 Million

Critical Informatics (CI), a managed detection and response (MDR) and continuous vulnerability identification (CVI) services provider, has raised $2 million in funding led by investment firm East Seattle Partners.

The financing concludes the extension of CI's original Series A funding round and brings the company's total financing to nearly $6.4 million, according to a prepared statement.

The additional financing enables CI to continue to scale its MDR service to meet the needs of large organizations, CEO Garrett Silver said. It also allows CI to accelerate its product development in a variety of areas, including integrations with cloud services and customer-facing dashboards for the company's MDR and CVI services.

CI previously announced it received an additional $1.1 million in funding in January. The financing was provided as part of an extended Series A funding round.

Meanwhile, CI originally closed its Series A funding round in April 2017. The company received nearly $3.3 million at this time.

CI's MDR and CVI Services: Here's What You Need to Know

The CI MDR service provides real-time threat detection, investigation and response, according to the company. It leverages advanced analytics and integrated threat intelligence to help organizations identify threats. Also, the service provides organizations with access to CI security analysts to perform security event investigations.

CI's CVI service was launched in December and offers automated scanning to detect and report on application, system and host vulnerabilities, the company said. It is built on CI's Critical Insight security monitoring platform and allows organizations to schedule security scans to identify emerging vulnerabilities or execute scans on-demand following specific events.

A Closer Look at CI

CI was founded in 2011 as M. K. Hamilton & Associates. The company initially offered cybersecurity services to help governments secure their critical assets and data against cyber threats.

Ultimately, CI rebranded itself and expanded its focus to healthcare, financial services and other industries. The company today offers cybersecurity services to help organizations bolster their security posture and maintain compliance with industry regulations.

CI also provides incident action plans designed to help organizations stop cyber threats, minimize threat damages and reduce recovery time after breaches. Furthermore, CI offers consulting, penetration testing and security assessment services.
