Titania CMMC Compliance Automation Tool May Assist Federal MSPs, MSSPs

Titania, a network security auditing solution company, has released a tool that allows federal government contractors to automate and assess Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) compliance. The tool is available as part of Titania's Nipper network security assessment, compliance management and risk remediation software.

The offering could potentially assist MSPs and MSSPs that serve the U.S. Department of Defense. Indeed, partners that fail to achieve CMMC compliance by a 2025 deadline could lose existing contracts with the federal government, and may not be able to bid on future contracts. The result: Multiple software companies and consulting companies are developing tools and services to help DoD partners achieve CMMC compliance.

In Titania's case, the new tool automates the auditing process for mission-critical CMMC network security practices, Titania stated. It can produce a report that indicates if a contractor is in compliance with CMMC requirements and provide a list of priorities and remediation advice to address any compliance issues. Among the potential benefits: The tool enables contractors to achieve compliance with up to 89 percent of CMMC core network device practices, Titania asserts.

What Is CMMC Compliance? Here's What MSSPs Need to Know

CMMC provides a standard for the implementation of cybersecurity across the Defense Industrial Base (DIB). It is designed for U.S Department of Defense (DoD) contractors and requires them to earn certification to verify that they have implemented cybersecurity processes and practices.

There are five levels of CMMC technical and procedural controls. Federal government contractors that comply with CMMC must meet various criteria that show they can protect sensitive unclassified information.

The DoD is implementing CMMC via a phased rollout approach. All DoD contractors are required to be CMMC-compliant by Oct. 1, 2025.

Multiple CMMC-focused consulting firms have popped up to assist businesses on the road to compliance. For instance, Prescott promotes CMMC readiness programs to MSPs.
