NocBox: Secure Private Cloud, Edge Appliance Debuts on Kickstarter

The NocBox hyperconverged private cloud appliance this week went live via a Kickstarter campaign, according to a prepared statement.

NocBox blends compute, network, security, storage and virtualization into a single appliance, the company said. In doing so, NocBox enables organizations to protect their devices – regardless of location.

How Does NocBox Work?

NocBox leverages patented hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) technology to keep mission-critical applications running, the company stated. Each NocBox also comes equipped with a variety of features, including:

  • Enterprise directory services.
  • Firewall.
  • Network storage.
  • Private cloud.
  • Unified threat management (UTM) system.

NocBox is compatible with 99 percent of devices and computers, the company indicated. Furthermore, a portion of the proceeds from each NocBox sold will be donated to open-source projects.

What Does NocBox Mean for MSSPs?

NocBox highlights the rising demand for HCI. Meanwhile, MSSPs that prioritize hyperconvergence may be better equipped than their rivals to capitalize on the increasing demand for HCI in the years to come.

Hyperconvergence involves the consolidation of storage, computing and networking into a single system to reduce data center complexity and boost scalability. As such, HCI often provides a simple, flexible and cost-effective alternative to traditional infrastructure systems and could drive the global demand for hyperconverged offerings.

The global HCI market is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 32.9 percent between 2018 and 2023, industry analyst MarketsandMarkets noted. This sector also could be worth $17.1 billion by 2023.
