Penetration Testing Provider Pcysys Raises $25M in Funding, Engages MSSPs

Pcysys, an automated penetration testing platform provider for MSSPs and enterprise customers, has completed a $25 million Series B funding round led by private equity firm Insight Partners, according to a prepared statement.

The Series B funding brings Pcysys's total funding to date to $40 million (the company previously added $10 million in Series A funding in November).

The Series B funding will help Pcysys expand its sales and delivery teams in North America, EMEA and the Asia Pacific, the company said. Pcysys also will use the funding to further develop its PenTera platform -- which supports a growing base of MSSPs (managed security services providers)

PenTera is an automated penetration testing platform that does not require any installations or network configurations and can be run on-premise or remotely, Pcysys stated. It uses algorithms to scan and ethically attack networks and identify security weaknesses.

Organizations can use PenTera to conduct ethical exploits based on infrastructure vulnerabilities, Pcysys said. They also can leverage PenTera to obtain insights into threat-based weaknesses and find ways to improve their security posture.

How Can MSSPs Leverage PenTera?

MSSPs can use PenTera to provide remote penetration testing-as-a-service (PTaaS), according to Pcysys. They can leverage PenTera to perform remote penetration tests and help organizations protect their networks against cyberattacks.

Pcysys also offers a partner program that allows MSSPs to run penetration tests for customers. MSSPs can join the program to purchase Pen-Test Credits and use them in conjunction with PenTera to run penetration tests.
