Zscaler Acquires Canonic Security, Unveils Supply Chain Protection Capabilities
Zscaler, a zero trust exchange platform company, has purchased SaaS application security platform provider Canonic Security for an undisclosed sum.
This is technology M&A deal number 45 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2023.
Zscaler, founded in 2008, is based in San Jose, California. The company has 6,654 employees listed on LinkedIn. Zscaler’s areas of expertise include cloud security, secure access service edge (SASE) and zero trust security.
Canonic, founded in 2020, is based in Tel Aviv, Israel. The company has 26 employees listed on LinkedIn. Canonic’s areas of expertise include SaaS security and threat detection and response.
What the Canonic Security Acquisition Means to Zscaler
Canonic allows Zscaler to integrate supply chain security capabilities into its data protection services, the companies noted. Zscaler customers can use its cloud access security broker (CASB) and SaaS security posture management (SSPM) offerings to protect their data, regardless of where it is stored or managed.
In addition, Zscaler customers can use Canonic’s security capabilities to look for misconfigurations and compliance violations across Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and other SaaS platforms, the companies said. They also can monitor their apps and API integrations, quarantine suspicious apps and automate app-vetting and app access recertification processes.
Zscaler Upgrades Its Security Service Edge (SSE) Solution
The Canonic acquisition comes after Zscaler in February 2023 announced Zscaler Resilience business continuity capabilities for its SSE platform. Organizations can use these capabilities to keep their applications running during blackouts, brownouts or catastrophic black swan events, the company indicated.
Zscaler provides a Zero Trust Exchange platform that connects organizations’ end-users, devices and applications and protects against cyberattacks and data loss, the company stated. It also offers the Summit Partner Program for MSSPs, MSPs and other technology providers.
