MSP Trapp Technology Hires Jim Mapes as CISO

Trapp Technology, a managed service provider (MSP) that delivers cloud, infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and other IT offerings, has appointed information technology industry veteran Jim Mapes as its chief information security officer (CISO). In this role, Mapes is expected to help Trapp expand its security services suite for mid-market and enterprise-level businesses, the company said in a prepared statement.

Mapes possesses 25 years of information technology experience, including 19 years in the information security sector. He has held various security consultant and partner roles at TBConsultingVIMRO and other IT solutions providers.

In addition, Mapes has helped design information security programs and operations, advise executive teams and boards and perform forensic investigations, intrusion testing and incident response, according to Trapp. He also has worked with healthcare companies and providers, Trapp stated, to help them secure patient medical records and meet HIPAA compliance.

What Does the Mapes Hire Mean for Trapp?

Trapp has recorded three-year sales growth of 557 percent, the company said in a prepared statement. Meanwhile, Mapes could help Trapp further accelerate its growth in several ways.

First, Mapes will grow and build upon Trapp's existing security services suite, according to the company. He is expected to help Trapp provide cybersecurity assessments and advanced managed security services, the company said, and ensure it can deliver "intelligent cybersecurity at an affordable price."

Mapes also may enable Trapp to capitalize on the rising demand for healthcare cybersecurity services.

Healthcare organizations face both internal and external cyber threats that continue to evolve. As such, the global healthcare cybersecurity market could be worth approximately $10.85 billion by 2022, market research firm Grand View Research said in a prepared statement.
