Email Security Acquisition: Hornetsecurity Buys Zerospam -

Hornetsecurity has acquired Canadian cloud email protection company Zerospam for an undisclosed sum, according to a prepared statement. The news comes after Hornetsecurity in January 2021 purchased backup solution provider Altaro.

With the Zerospam acquisition, Hornetsecurity will expand its North American reach, the company said. Hornetsecurity also plans to invest in Zerospam's partner community and provide new email security products.

Zerospam offers a cloud email security solution that leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning, the company indicated. The solution provides inbound and outbound email protection.

Organizations can use Zerospam's solution to block unwanted emails, the company said. They also can protect emails sent from an organization's domains.

Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS): Leverages built-in throttling to protect email service integrity

Malware: Checks email file attachments for malware and destroys suspicious messages

Spear-Phishing: Protects against email spoofing and uses a spear-phishing module to block targeted email attacks

Zerospam serves more than 4,000 small, mid-sized and enterprise customers worldwide. It supports these customers via an ecosystem of over 400 partners.
