MSSP Market News: OpenText Probes Nation-State Collaboration, Cybercrime Rings

1. OpenText Issues 2024 Threat Hunter Report: OpenText has released the results of its 2024 Threat Hunter Perspective. The report found that the collaboration and coordination between nation-states and cybercrime rings to target global supply chains and further geopolitical motives has become a signature trend in the threat landscape. "Our threat intelligence and experienced threat hunting team have found that nation-states are not slowing down and, as notable events like the U.S. presidential election get closer, every organization in the global supply chain needs to be on high alert for advanced and multiple cyberattacks," Muhi Majzoub, executive vice president and chief product officer, OpenText, said in a press statement.

2. Veeam Integrates with Palo Alto Networks: Veeam Software, a data resilience provider, has announced a new integration with Palo Alto Networks to simplify security operations and strengthen data resilience. This integration addresses the need for organizations to take an integrated approach to protecting their data backups and proactively responding to cyber threats through the capabilities offered by Veeam’s new apps and Palo Alto Networks Cortex XSIAM and Cortex XSOAR, the company said.

3. Resemble AI, Carahsoft Partner Over Voice AI Technology, Deepfake Detection: Resemble AI, a specialist in generative voice AI, and Carahsoft Technology Corp., a government IT solutions provider, have formed a partnership. Carahsoft will serve as Resemble AI’s Master Government Aggregator, making the company’s generative voice technology and deepfake detection solution available to the public sector.

4. Torq Gains $70 Million Funding Round: Torq, a cybersecurity hyperautomation provider, has closed its $70 million Series C funding round, led by Evolution Equity Partners, with Bessemer Venture Partners, Notable Capital, Greenfield Partners and Strait Capital participating. Combined with Torq’s expanded Series B in January, Torq has raised a total of $112 million in 2024, bringing the company’s funding since its 2020 inception to $192 million.

5. Checkmarx, ZAP Form Dynamic Application Security Testing Partnership: Checkmarx, a cloud-native application security provider, has expanded its support for open source solutions with the most widely used DAST tool in the world, the Zed Attack Proxy (ZAP), the company said. ZAP project leaders Simon Bennetts, Rick Mitchell and Ricardo Pereira will join Checkmarx as employees to build the next generation of Checkmarx’ enterprise-grade DAST offering while continuing to invest in the open source project and grow the ZAP community.

6. Team8 Reports Phishing, Deepfakes as Top AI Threats: Team8 has released its 2024 CISO Village Survey Report. The report is based on a survey taken at Team8’s annual CISO Summit. The survey found that 70% of CISOs’ budgets increased in 2024 compared to 2023. Regarding AI-powered attacks, 75% of respondents said phishing attacks pose the greatest AI-powered threat to their organization, while 56% said deepfake enhanced fraud (voice or video) poses the greatest threat.

7. ManageEngine Delivers Decision Intelligence Platform: ManageEngine, a provider of enterprise IT management solutions, has upgraded Analytics Plus, an IT analytics solution. Version 6.0 introduces Spotlight, a contextual recommendations engine powered by AI, designed to identify key inefficiencies in IT operations and suggest corrective strategies, the company said.
