Johnson Controls, an Irish company that specializes in sustainable building technology and software, has acquired keyless access control solutions company Security Enhancement Systems (SES) for an undisclosed sum.
The deal essentially blends physical building security with digital managed security services. This is technology M&A deal number 393 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2022.
Johnson will integrate SES's security and access control technology into its portfolio. This will help Johnson become "a single, trusted source for security solutions for corporate and other locations," said Sanjeev Singh, VP of product management for Johnson's Controls Security Products division.
A Closer Look at Security Enhancement Systems
SES delivers keyless access control and analytics solutions. Organizations can use these solutions to protect thousands of remote sites at the same time and grant access to them via a mobile app, SES indicated.
In addition, SES provides several products, including identity and access software (IAS) and mobile IAS application software (mIAS). IAS consists of cloud software that communicates with security smart locks through a smartphone application and allows end-users to manage remote access. Meanwhile, mIAS provides authorized keyless access control and intrusion alarm management via a mobile app.
SES partners with resellers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). It does not currently offer a partner program designed for MSSPs and MSPs.
What Does the SES Acquisition Mean for Johnson Controls?
SES enables Johnson to deliver a variety of security and access control technologies, including:
- Video management
- Security as a service
- IP cameras
- Door controllers
- Card readers
In addition, SES provides mobile, cloud and on-premise technology that promotes multi-site security. As such, SES could help Johnson offer perimeter control, equipment, shelters and other assets for telecommunication, utilities, transportation and data centers.
