1. Security Partnership: Edgecore Networks is partnering with Wedge Networks to offer a next-generation network security solution to its customers. Wedge Networks' Wedge Cloud Network Defense (WedgeCND), a cloud-managed security service designed to provide comprehensive security protection, is now available as an add-on for Edgecore's Wi-Fi 6 series access points through its ecCLOUD cloud controller.
2. BlackPoint Cyber Partners with Indy Car Series: Andretti Autosport announced that Blackpoint Cyber will serve as an official partner on the No. 27 AutoNation Honda of Kyle Kirkwood for the 2023 NTT INDYCAR Series season. Blackpoint Cyber uses its ecosystem of threat intelligence-backed solutions, including its managed detection and response (MDR) service, to detect and respond to breaches with the same speed Kirkwood shows on the racetrack, the company said.
3. Cybersecurity Conference: SentinelOne has announced the return of LABScon, a conference dedicated to advancing cybersecurity research for the benefit of global digital defense. The event will take place at the Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia in Scottsdale, Arizona September 20-23. 4. Leadership Move: Cybersecurity firm Lodestone, a subsidiary of specialist insurer Beazley, has named information security expert Alton Kizziah as its new chief executive officer. In his new role, Kizziah will focus on expanding the senior leadership team, adding specialized skills and expertise to extend the firm’s commitment to helping clients globally secure environments, detect threats and respond to cyber incidents.
5. Cybersecurity Research: Organizations struggling to obtain a company-wide commitment to cybersecurity vigilance can get help from a new white paper from CompTIA, entitled "Embedding Cybersecurity Into Your Culture."
6. Funding Boost: HUB Cyber Security has entered into an agreement to receive up to $16 million in gross proceeds from Lind Global Asset Management. This investment is expected to provide HUB Security with additional resources to fuel its rapid growth and development, enhance its financial stability and enable it to pursue its future plans, the company said.
7. Company Refreshes Security Strategy: Action1 Corporation, a provider of a risk-based patch management platform designed for work-from-anywhere enterprises, announced a new product strategy aimed at enhancing organizations' resilience to cyber threats. In line with this strategy, the company stated that it is looking to add vulnerability discovery and prioritization based on IT asset value to its patch management capabilities to empower organizations to proactively manage their security risks.
8. Malware Alert: A new Android subscription malware named Fleckpe has surfaced on the Google Play Store, amassing more than 620,000 downloads since 2022. Kaspersky, which identified 11 apps on the official app storefront, said the malware masqueraded as legitimate photo editing apps, camera and smartphone wallpaper packs. The apps have since been taken down. The operation primarily targets users from Thailand, although telemetry data Kaspersky gathered has revealed victims in Poland, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. 9. Cyberattack Reported: British outsourcing company Capita has confirmed to pension clients that some data it processed was likely to have been hacked during a recent cyber incident. The company, which was affected by a cyber incident in March, said that there was no evidence of any data being compromised after its internal Microsoft Office 365 applications were affected. Capita staff searched the affected servers and identified that some pensions data that Capita processes on behalf of its clients is likely to have been exfiltrated. (Source: Infotechlead)
