You Don't Say: A "major breach" of the U.S. government's critical infrastructure will arrive within the next two years, according to 60 percent of cybersecurity professionals surveyed by Black Hat. Hmmm... MSSP Alert will respectfully disagree with the results. We think the findings are far too conservative. To us, a major cybersecurity catastrophe involving the U.S. government seems inevitable over the next two years. 9. MSSP Mitigates Security Breach: B&B Theatres, which operates the seventh largest movie theater chain in America, has hired Trustwave to investigate and mitigate a credit card system breach.
8. Data Exposure: It looks like WWE Corp. -- the big wrestling entertainment company -- left subscriber data for 3 million users wide open and exposed on Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), according to Forbes. This is the second time in recent months cyber sleuths have found third-party data wide open on AWS. But customers, rather than Amazon, are to blame for the careless data protections.
7. Telecom Hack?: India's Reliance Jio, a major telecom firm, is investigating whether personal data of over 100 million of its customers had leaked onto a website, in what analysts said could be the first ever large-scale breach at an Indian telecom operator, Reuters reported.
6. Talent: WidePoint, a mobile cybersecurity and telecommunications services provider, has promoted Jin Kang to president and CEO, effective July 1. Also, Executive VP Jason Holloway gains the added role of CEO and president of the company's cybersecurity solutions unit.
5. Symantec Acquires Fireglass: Symantec has acquired Israel-based Fireglass, an agentless isolation solution that eliminates ransomware, malware and phishing threats in real-time by preventing potentially harmful content from ever reaching user endpoints or the corporate network, the company's assert. Financial terms were not disclosed.
4. Partnership: Comodo and TrustCert, two digital certificate specialists, are partnering to promote managed security services to customers in Brazil.
3. Energy Grid Protection: VirtualArmour, an MSSP in Vancouver, Canada, has finalized contract with a global architectural design and engineering firm which services the energy sector. Under the terms of the deal, VirtualArmour will design, build and implement new security infrastructure to support the client’s sustained growth within the energy sector.
2. Security Summit: The CyberArk Impact Americas 2017 conference starts today in Boston. Although the event isn't open to media, MSSP Alert will be tracking conference news and chatter closely. Among the developments to watch: How will CyberArk leverage the recent Conjur acquisition to improve corporate security auditing and more? Hmmm...
