Porn, Malware and Government Networks: A U.S. government network was infected with malware thanks to one employee’s “extensive history” of watching porn on his work computer, investigators have found, according to TechCrunch. The audit, carried out by the U.S. Department of the Interior’s inspector general, found that a U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) network at the EROS Center, a satellite imaging facility in South Dakota, was infected after an unnamed employee visited thousands of porn pages that contained malware, which downloaded to his laptop and “exploited the USGS’ network," the report says.
7. Law Firm Cyberattack: Foley & Lardner LLP, a major law firm, experienced a cybersecurity incident earlier this month, but said there was “no unauthorized access to client data,” according to Bloomberg Law.
6. Cyber Insurance: Slice Labs Inc. and AXA XL have launched a cyber insurance policy specifically designed for small and midsize business (SMB) customers, the two companies say.

Qualys Earnings, Acquisition: Security software provider Qualys says revenues for the third quarter of 2018 increased by 20.5% to $71.7 million compared to $59.5 million for the same quarter in 2017, the company announced Tuesday. The results beat Wall Street's expectations. The company also acquired Layered Insight to push deeper into container security.
3. FireEye Earnings: Security software and incident response specialist FireEye says Q3 2018 revenue was $212 million -- up 7 percent from Q3 2017. The results beat Wall Street's expectations.
2. AlienVault Community Growth: The AlienVault Open Threat Exchange (OTX) community has grown to 100,000 global participants, up 36 percent from last year. AlienVault OTX, launched in 2012, is a free threat intelligence community that enables real-time collaboration between security researchers and IT security practitioners from around the world, the company says. Every day, participants from more than 140 countries contribute 19 million pieces of threat data to the community, AlienVault adds.
