9. Kaspersky Lab: President Trump has signed a bill that officially bans Kaspersky Lab's software from U.S. federal networks. The U.S. government alleges that Kaspersky could have ties to Russia's government. The software company has repeatedly denied the claims. Nevertheless, the U.S. federal government removed Kaspersky's software from its networks, and the company is closing down its Washington, D.C., office.
8. Bitcoin Exchange Attacks: Digital currency exchange operators Coinbase and Bitfinex reported problems with service through their websites on Tuesday, frustrating traders seeking to cash in on the latest surge in the value of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, Reuters reports.
7. Healthcare Cyber Attacks: More than four in five US physicians (83%) have experienced some form of a cyber attack, according to new research from the American Medical Association (AMA) and Accenture, Medscape reports.
6. Connected Car Security: Karamba Security, which specializes in automotive cyberattack prevention, today announced SafeCAN, its new security software that seamlessly protects automotive networks from hacking by authenticating in-vehicle communications with zero network overhead. Karamba raised about $12 million in Series B funding earlier this year.
5. Funding Part One; Simility, a Palo Alto, California-based provider of a machine learning–powered adaptive fraud prevention solution, has raised $17.5 million in funding. The platform is designed to help banks, marketplaces and digital payment providers to mitigate fraud.
4. Funding Part Two: ShieldX Networks, a San Jose, California-based provider of cloud security solutions, has raised $25 million in Series B funding. The company has a fledgling partner program.
3. DDoS Mitigation: NTT Communications, a Top 100 MSSP for 2017, is expanding its Distributed Denial of Service Protection Services (DPS) with the addition of DPS Detect. This new solution can help customers detect potential attacks directed to their networks and initiate mitigations faster, the company asserts.
2. Talent: Auth0, which specializes in Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS), has named co-founder Eugenio Pace to the CEO position, effective immediately. He succeeds former CEO Jon Gelsey after "four years of outstanding service," the company said. In 2017, the company doubled its customer base to 3,000 companies; grew revenues more than 100 percent, and hired more than 120 team members.
1. Partner Program: The Armor Guardian Partner Program has attracted six additional partners across the AWS and Microsoft partner ecosystems. Armor, a cloud security service provider, offers a community-powered threat prevention and response platform called Spartan.
