5. Security Partner of the Year: Optiv has named LogRhythm its first security partner of the year.

4. Penetration Testing:  Microsoft, HP Enterprise and others have pumped $21.25 million into Synack, a penetration testing firm. We'll share more details soon.

3. DDoS Attacks and LDAP Servers: Akamai's Security Intelligence Response Team (SIRT) has identified a new type of DDoS attack. It involves a Connection-less Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (CLDAP) reflection and amplification method. Akamai SIRT has observed this attack vector producing DDoS attacks consistently exceeding 1 Gbps, comparable to Domain Name System (DNS) reflection attacks, the company says. 2. AWS Security: Saviynt has achieved AWS Security Competency. Saviynt specializes in identity governance and cloud security solutions, The company focuses on such cloud platforms as AWS, Salesforce and Workday, and enterprise applications from Oracle and SAP, among others.
