Egress Software Technologies has brought to market adaptive security for its Intelligent Email Security platform to protect its customers against inbound and outbound email-based threats.

Adaptive security is now available via Intelligent Email Security, and existing Egress customers can start using this feature for free, the company announced in a prepared statement.

How Adaptive Security for the Egress Intelligent Security Platform Works

Intelligent Email Security uses product telemetry, open-source intelligence and behavioral data with threat data taken from third-party security applications to generate individual risk scores, Egress said. If a score reaches a high-risk threshold, Intelligent Email Security automatically adapts its controls to defend against phishing threats, human error and data exfiltration.

With adaptive security for Intelligent Email Security, organizations can:

  • Automatically adjust their email security controls in the areas that need it most
  • Correlate and analyze threat data in real time
  • Use multiple data sources to assess risk trends and generate security insights

Commenting on adaptive security for Intelligent Email Security and why organizations should establish an adaptive security architecture, Egress CEO Tony Peppers said:

"Almost every organization freely admits that people represent the biggest risk to their security and are most vulnerable when using email. By implementing an adaptive security architecture, we can continually assess human risk on a per user basis and automatically dial enforcement up or down depending on the level of the potential threat."

Egress Partners with Security Awareness Training Provider

Along with introducing adaptive security for Intelligent Email Security, Egress in July 2023 announced a KnowBe4 integration that provides organizations "with a proactive approach to defending against advanced inbound and outbound threats," the companies said.

An organization can use the integration to feed KnowBe4's user risk score into its adaptive security model as an additional intelligence source, the companies noted. Meanwhile, the organization's employees can use this information to find ways to protect against social engineering and other email-based threats.

A Closer Look at Egress

Egress offers a cloud email security platform that organizations can use to assess human risk and adapt their security policy controls accordingly, the company said. It protects more than 75 million emails daily.

Furthermore, Egress provides a partner program for MSPs and value-added resellers. Egress also has a network of partners that has doubled in the past 12 months, the company indicated. Egress is backed by venture capital firm FTV Capital.
