9. MSSP Revenues: Trying to track the the MSSP market's health? One place to start: Watch Qualys's quarterly results. The company breaks out its MSSP quarterly revenues, which were up 18 percent in Q1 2017 vs. Q1 2016 (on a normalized basis). We'll share more thoughts and analysis on this soon.

8. Endpoint Security: Carbon Black has launched Cb Protection 8.0, an updated application control solution that automates lockdown of data center servers, the company claims. Previous Cb Protection releases are deployed on 4 million computers worldwide. Customers use Cb Protection to lockdown servers and critical systems to stop malware, ransomware, zero-day attacks and non-malware attacks, the company says.

7. Phishing: Alphabet has shut down a massive phishing attack involving Google Docs. We'll share a recap soon.

6. Partner Program - Security: One Identity, formerly owned by Dell EMC, has launched a partner program to drive adoption of the company's Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions.

5. Talent - Security: Todd Musselman has joined global consulting firm Protiviti as a managing director in its Technology Consulting practice. Based in Dallas,Musselman works with clients on security and privacy issues with a focus on identity and access management. Previously, he managed HP's cybersecurity identity management solutions business.

3. Mobile Device Privacy: Former FBI Director James Comey seems to be hinting that building back doors into mobile devices may not be a smart anti-terrorism strategy after all...
