7. Industrial Control Systems: SecurityMatters and Waterfall Security Solutions have integrated SecurityMatters' network monitoring platform with Waterfall’s Unidirectional Security Gateways. The result: Industrial enterprises can continuously and centrally monitor industrial control systems, while protecting those networks from cyberattacks, the companies claim.
6. Ransomware Attack - Mass Transit: Hackers attacked the Sacramento Regional Transit system this weekend, erasing data and threatening to do more harm if SacRT doesn’t pay them one bitcoin, or about $8,000, according to the Sacramento Bee. The attack erased parts of computer programs on the agency’s servers that affect internal operations, including the ability to use computers to dispatch employees and assign buses for routes, the report said. However, no data was stolen, and rail and bus service were not affected, the newspaper said.
5. DDoS Attacks: Organizations experienced an average of 237 DDoS attack attempts per month during Q3 2017 – equivalent to 8 DDoS attack attempts every day – as hackers strive to take their organizations offline or steal sensitive data, according to the latest DDoS Trends and Analysis report from Corero Network Security.

Cyber Insurance: Roughly 57% of small and medium enterprises do not have cyber insurance, while 63% have experienced some form of cyber incident, according to an Argo Group International Holdings Ltd. survey. Among the challenges: Understanding the pros and cons of cyber insurance policies. Still, third-party cyber insurance guides are emerging. 3. Cyber Cops: Cisco and INTERPOL have inked an agreement to share threat intelligence as the first step in jointly fighting cybercrime.
2. Partnership: Cybereason and Exabeam, are partnering to integrate their cybersecurity and SIEM platforms. The net result: Security Operations Center (SOC) analysts will improve detection of advanced threats and dramatically reduce their incident response times, the companies claim.
1. Momentum: Critical Start, a cybersecurity integrator and MSSP in Dallas, ranks among the Dallas 100 by Southern Methodist University. The Dallas 100, co-founded by the Caruth Institute, honors the ingenuity, commitment and perseverance of the fastest-growing privately held entrepreneurial businesses in the Dallas area, the research organizers say.
