Today’s MSSP Alert Market News:

1. MSP Channel Partner Program Expands: Sophos, a cybersecurity-as-a-service specialist, is expanding its commitment to the channel with the addition of Partner Care, a new offering in its global partner program that features a dedicated team of Sophos experts who handle non-sales related questions and operational support. The offering is designed to speed up response times for partners and managed service providers (MSPs) needing assistance with administrative and operational tasks, freeing them up to focus on selling and securing their customers with Sophos’ portfolio of managed services and endpoint, network, email and cloud security solutions, the company said.

2. LockBit Takedown Update: Trend Micro revealed its critical role in helping global law enforcement partners disrupt the LockBit ransomware group this week. Through undercover infiltration, Trend Micro helped prevent the release of the group's next malware products and automatically installed protection for its customers, even before the group themselves had finished testing, the company said. 3. Identity Defense Deal: Delinea, a privileged access management (PAM) provider, has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Fastpath, a specialist in identity governance and administration and identity access rights. The deal follows Delinea's recent acquisition of Authomize and marks a significant expansion in Delinea's capabilities to enhance privileged access, controls and governance, the company said. The Fastpath acquisition is technology M&A deal number 46 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2023. 4. Threat Report Highlights MSPs: SonicWall has released the 2024 SonicWall Annual Cyber Threat Report, which exposes all types of cyber behaviors and trends from digital adversaries to help partners build data-driven solutions to keep customers safe. As organizations are increasingly turning to MSPs to alleviate pressure on IT departments, managed services are providing organizations with an additional human-layer of defense, addressing alert fatigue and freeing up valuable resources and time for core business functions, SonicWall said.

5. Channel Partner Program Launches: Pentera, a specialist in automated security validation, has launched its new Partner Program. The global program reinforces Pentera's channel-first go-to-market strategy and offers its channel partners a more lucrative and systematic approach to creating, managing and growing sales opportunities, the company said.

6. Education Threat Report: Trustwave, a cybersecurity and managed security services provider, has released research uncovering unique cybersecurity threats faced by education institutions. The report, “2024 Education Threat Landscape: Trustwave Threat Intelligence Briefing and Mitigation Strategies,” explores industry-specific risks and equips cybersecurity leaders in the education sector with actionable insights and strategies to strengthen their defenses.

7. SMB Security Release: Net Friends, a managed services provider, has launched NetSafe, a comprehensive cybersecurity suite designed to protect small and medium businesses (SMB) from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. Tailored specifically for the needs of SMBs, NetSafe provides a cost-effective solution that helps mitigate risk, safeguard data and ensures compliance with industry regulations, the company said.

8. Healthcare Network Cyberattack: Change Healthcare was hit by an apparent cyberattack on its IT systems on Wednesday, saying the disruption will last at least through the day. The Tennessee-based company, which is a national provider of healthcare cost transparency and consumer engagement solutions, said it was facing enterprise-wide connectivity issues. (Source: Reuters)

9. Biden Bolsters Port Security: The Biden administration on Wednesday announced measures to bolster cybersecurity at U.S. ports, including expanded responsibilities for the Coast Guard and investment in domestic production of cranes. President Joe Biden signed an executive order outlining the measures for ports, which are the main entry point for foreign goods. The U.S. Coast Guard will get powers to respond to cyberattacks against maritime infrastructure, including requiring operators to share information about incidents and threats. (Source: Reuters)
