Recorded Future, an enterprise security intelligence company, has acquired attack surface monitoring provider SecurityTrails for an undisclosed sum. The company will leverage SecurityTrails' technology to provide a threat landscape visibility intelligence solution, according to a prepared statement.
This is technology M&A deal number 17 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered in 2022. See more than 1,000 technology M&A deals and MSP/MSSP acquisitions listed here.
SecurityTrails offers technology that collects hundreds of data points at an Internet-wide scale, the company indicated. The technology correlates and normalizes data to provide a near real-time snapshot and historical view of all assets on the Internet at any given time.
In addition, SecurityTrails provides attack surface intelligence, the company noted. As such, SecurityTrails helps organizations manage critical assets and shadow infrastructure.
What Does the SecurityTrails Acquisition Mean for Recorded Future?
Recorded Future will use the SecurityTrails acquisition to launch an Attack Surface Intelligence Module within its Recorded Future Intelligence Platform, the buyer said. Existing Recorded Future customers also can leverage SecurityTrails data in other existing Intelligence Modules.
Furthermore, Recorded Future will continue to invest in SecurityTrails' Total Internet Inventory collection and intelligence capabilities, the company indicated. That way, Recorded Future can build out the world's deepest real-time dataset of the Internet.
The SecurityTrails acquisition comes after Recorded Future in October 2021 announced an investment in Cyber Threat Cognitive Intelligence, a common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVE) intelligence company. Recorded Future made the investment as part of its mission to support novel approaches to data collection and analysis, the company said.
Recorded Future offers its security intelligence platform to global organizations. It also provides a partner program for MSSPs, VARs, OEMs and technology providers.
