Jim Clark and Tom Jermoluk, technology entrepreneurs who founded Netscape, Silicon Graphics and @Home Network, have launched identity and access management (IAM) company Beyond Identity. Moreover, Beyond Identity has raised $30 million in a Series A funding round co-led by Koch Disruptive Technologies and New Enterprise Associates.
The Beyond Identity Cloud platform delivers passwordless identity management, the company stated. It replaces passwords with self-signed certificates to provide a secure alternative to traditional password managers.
In addition, Beyond Identity Cloud extends a Chain of Trust for secure passwordless authentication, according to the company. This Chain of Trust includes user and device identities and a real-time snapshot of a device's security posture that are verified by a secure certificate.
What Does Beyond Identity Cloud Offer?
Beyond Identity Cloud's features include:
- No passwords for users to create, remember or change.
- No central storage of passwords to eliminate the risk of bulk credential breaches or credential-stuffing attacks.
- Device and device security posture audit records and a machine-verifiable audit trail.
- Configuration-based integrations with single sign-on (SSO) solutions from Ping Identity, Okta and ForgeRock.
Beyond Identity is offering Beyond Identity Cloud to businesses that want to eliminate the risk of central password databases. The company also will offer Beyond Identity Cloud to consumers who struggle with password vault usability and security.
