Broadcom has introduced VMware HyperArmor, a new software package designed to enhance cyberdefense capabilities for VMware Cloud Foundation deployments. This new offering bundles multi-factor authentication, virtual patching, and positive host scripting guardrails to protect against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, based on information published by Channeldive.
VMware HyperArmor aims to combat AI-accelerated cyberattacks that exploit vulnerabilities faster than traditional patching methods. The package adds multiple layers of protection, including virtual patching to block malicious activity without reboots, positive-host controls to prevent unauthorized hypervisor intrusions, and MFA at the hypervisor layer. Hypervisors are a prime target for attackers, as compromising one host can expose numerous virtual machines. The average time to exploit a vulnerability has significantly decreased, with AI further compressing this window.
HyperArmor enforces a continuous baseline of approved software and activity, providing IT teams time to validate and deploy official patches. It complements existing VCF security features like vDefend and VMware Live Recovery. The add-on will be available on a per-core basis and is expected in the first quarter of Broadcom’s 2027 fiscal year, though pricing has not yet been disclosed. This move also presents an opportunity for Broadcom partners to offer security assessments and deployment services.
