CrowdStrike launches autonomous AI red teaming to cut breakout time

CrowdStrike has unveiled SafeMind, a new system employing AI models for autonomous red teaming, effectively addressing the shrinking window attackers have to compromise systems. This innovative approach pits AI against AI in a continuous cycle of attack and defense, aiming to neutralize threats before they can impact real-world environments, according to a recent report by Silicon Angle.

At its Fal.Con 2026 keynote, CrowdStrike introduced SafeMind, featuring two Nvidia Nemotron-based AI models: Red Tempest for offense and Blue Solano for defense. This system operates in a closed loop, using a digital twin of a customer's environment. Red Tempest probes for vulnerabilities, while Blue Solano remediates them, repeating the cycle until no threats remain. This autonomous red teaming aims to counter the drastically reduced "breakout time" for attackers, which has effectively become runtime. Analysts noted this development as a significant shift, highlighting that while defense can win, offense only needs to succeed once. SafeMind integrates with the Falcon platform and will also be available via CrowdStrike's Project QuiltWorks program.
