Cyberattacks against organizations in the healthcare sector, which were disclosed by 46% of cybersecurity professionals and managers to occur within the past year, were also regarded to have become more intricate and refined than years past, reports SC Media.A report from CyberRisk Alliance found that 71% of respondents said intrusions against healthcare have become either "much more" or "somewhat more" sophisticated than in previous years, some of whom noted that continued technological advancements such as artificial intelligence and other digital technologies would further drive attack prevalence and sophistication.Healthcare was previously reported to have been experiencing a faster attack growth rate than other industries, with the accelerated increase attributed to the higher likelihood of immediately providing ransoms demanded by threat actors. Moreover, newly-emergent ransomware gangs have become less hesitant in targeting healthcare organizations due to the promise of higher paydays from sensitive records, unlike their predecessors.
