MRK Technologies, a cybersecurity risk management provider, has announced a partnership with penetration testing company Horizon3.ai to deliver Autonomous Penetration Tests as a Service (APTaaS).

APTaaS helps cybersecurity teams continuously find and fix vulnerabilities within their systems, MRK indicated. That way, cybersecurity teams can mitigate these vulnerabilities before cybercriminals can exploit them.

APTaaS leverages Horizon3.ai’s NodeZero penetration testing platform, MRK stated. NodeZero lets a user view their organization’s security posture through the eyes of a cybercriminal, Horizon3.ai said. As such, the platform helps a user identify and address ineffective security controls.

What Does APTaaS Mean for MRK Technologies?

APTaaS represents “the next step” in helping organizations improve their security posture and keep pace with evolving cyber threats, MRK SVP Mark Tookman said. It also bolsters MRK’s managed security services portfolio.

Along with APTaaS, MRK delivers a variety of managed security services, including:

  • File integrity monitoring
  • Managed security information and event management (SIEM)
  • Managed security operations center (SOC)
  • Network forensics
  • User and entity behavior analytics (UEBA)

MRK provides its managed security services to organizations in healthcare, retail and other industries. The company does not currently provide a partner program.

GuidePoint Security Introduces Penetration Testing as a Service

The APTaaS announcement comes after MSSP GuidePoint Security in November 2021 released its PTaaS offering.

Organizations can use GuidePoint’s PTaaS to perform recurring, automated pentests, perform continuous reporting and get immediate results, GuidePoint noted. They also can identify vulnerabilities and explore ways to secure their applications and networks.
