EDTS: Top MSP Launches Cybersecurity Business Unit
EDTS, a well-known managed IT services provider for midmarket customers, has launched a dedicated business unit focused entirely on cybersecurity. The new organization, called EDTS Cyber, offers network threat analysis and remediation, cybersecurity monitoring, and cyber incident response.
No doubt, EDTS already is a successful business in its own right. The 75-person IT organization serves customers from offices in Columbia and Greenville, South Carolina, Asheville, North Carolina and its headquarters in Augusta, Georgia. Moreover, EDTS was recently named to the Inc. 5000 list of Fastest- Growing Companies in America for the seventh consecutive year, the company notes.
So why introduce a dedicated cybersecurity business? “While we have long kept [customer] data protected, today’s ever-changing threat landscape takes highly specialized tools, very specific skills, and absolute focus to deliver security services at the highest level, so EDTS Cyber was formed,” CEO Charles Johnson said in a prepared statement.
EDTS Cyber: Security Offerings
The new EDTS Cyber business delivers SOC 2 Type 2 certified managed security services. The SOC (security operations center) is PCI compliance and manned 24-7-365 by certified security professionals, the company says. Key areas of expertise include:
- security information and event management (SIEM);
- intrusion detection systems (IDS) and event correlation;
- security framework assessments, network penetration testing, social engineering, security awareness training; and
- incident response and remediation services – to include forensics if needed.
ChannelE2E is checking in with EDTS to learn more about the new business unit’s launch and long-term strategy.
Did EDTS indicate how the cyber business unit will be staffed (headcount)? And will the cyber unit have its own profit/loss responsibility? Any details you can share about the business model?
