Sumo Logic Unveils Amazon Inspector Security Assessment Service Support
Organizations can use Amazon Inspector in conjunction with Sumo Logic’s Continuous Intelligence Platform to identify and analyze security anomalies and trends, the companies said. That way, they can understand the impact of AWS application and infrastructure changes and generate security insights.
What Is Amazon Inspector?
Amazon Inspector is an automated vulnerability management service that scans AWS workloads for software vulnerabilities and unintended network exposure, the company indicated. It offers a variety of security capabilities, including:
- Compliance: Supports compliance requirements and best practices for various data security regulations.
- Patch Remediation: Leverages common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVE) information in combination with network accessibility and other factors to create context-based risk scores to help users prioritize and address vulnerable resources.
- Vulnerability Discovery: Identifies vulnerabilities and route information about them to security teams.
Amazon Inspector also uses over 50 sources for vulnerability intelligence, the company noted. In doing so, it helps users quickly detect and mitigate zero-day vulnerabilities.
How Can MSSPs Use Amazon Inspector?
MSSPs can become AWS Partners to integrate Amazon Inspector into their managed security portfolios. This allows MSSPs to use Amazon Inspector to deliver managed security services to simplify deployment and operations across myriad use cases, the company said.
To date, Deloitte, a Top 250 MSSP, and CloudHesive have launched Amazon Inspector integrations. Deloitte offers Amazon Inspector as part of its Cyber Cloud Managed Services (CMS). Meanwhile, CloudHesive uses Amazon Inspector findings to discover and protect managed compute instances and managed container repositories across its customers’ AWS accounts.
